The King Shepherd Dog

is large, rugged, powerful and impressive, possessing great endurance and agility. These wonderful dogs were selectively bred to be large, loyal and loving family companions and protectors. Despite their size, they are remarkably athletic, having incredible ability and endurance. They are also extremely intelligent and easy to train.

While King Shepherds can be protective, they are nonetheless quite gentle and loving with their families and friends. King Shepherds are very handsome dogs that turn heads wherever they are seen. The owners of this fantastic breed tend to be fiercely loyal to their breed of choice.   Please note that The King Shepherd is a breed in developement. We are proud to be a King Shepherd Club International Recommended Breeder, in our opinion, a dog deemed Champion by Rarities Inc , North American Kennel Club (NAKC) or American Rrare Breeds Association (ARBA) is the true qualifier of breed standard, not recognition by any “club”, “organization” or “association” such as AKSC which is a private club controlled by a few members. A great place to start learning about the breed is to visit the King Shepherd Club International forum where KSD owners and breeders respectfully share information, ask questions and contribute to learning about this wonderful breed.

How big do King Shepherds get?

When full grown, a male King Shepherd can range from 27 to over 32 inches at the shoulder and weigh from 100 to over 130 pounds.

King Shepherd females are slightly smaller ranging from 25 to 30 inches at the shoulder and weighing from 85 to over 110 pounds.

How much do they eat?

An adult King Shepherd usually requires about 3-4 cups of dry dog food per day.  We strongly recommend that you use a premium brand of dog food, one that is meat based (chicken, poultry or lamb) without soybeans or artificial preservatives.  Along with the dry food, wet food should be added, in the form of a meat stew, soup or a can of premium wet food. Vitamins and glucosamine /chondroitin supplements should also be added to the dog’s daily rations.
